Mockingjay By Suzanne Collins
In the story, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, we meet a
venturing protagonist with aspiration for "going the
distance." Throughout the book, the overarching metaphor
of flying is somewhat reminiscent of the many lost dreams
of today's youth.
The half-mockingbird, half-bluejay is faced with difficulties
of settling down in a world that is different from him.
Collins' stark thematic elements constrast the
concurrent "Failure to Launch" individuals, while subtly
giving them hope.
Though the simple story held vivid detail, I felt that
the environment restricted the development of the tale.
Perhaps a different perspective would offer more incite
into the character, as I struggle to understand the
emotions and ideological conflicts that a fowl faces from
day to day.
